Lab of the Month

PRDM16, a GWAS-identified coronary artery disease risk gene with previously well-documented roles in brown adipocytes, is preferentially expressed in contractile vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and is downregulated in phenotypically modulated SMCs (Mod), as evidenced by an integrated scRNA-seq dataset of human aortic tissues generated by multiple independent studies.
