NAVBO Travel Awards –

To be eligible for a Travel Award you must submit an abstract and be either a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow or research fellow. You must be a trainee member of NAVBO.

a.       Indicate that you would like to be considered for this award on the abstract submission page.

b.       Indicate your current training (or professional) level: graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, research fellow

c.       Must be a trainee member of NAVBO

d.       Award applicant must be the presenting author

e.       Checks will be distributed to recipients at the conclusion of the Keynote Lecture.

f.         Please note – that while many trainees from a single lab may apply for the award, there can only be one recipient per lab.

g.   Abstracts must be submitted by January 10, 2009

CSATVB Travel Bursary -

A travel bursary would allow reimbursement for travel expenses, hotel and meal allowance and registration costs to CSATVB trainees (i.e. MSc or PhD students, or post docs or MDs in training) to attend the Vascular Matrix Biology and Bioengineering Workshop. All trainee abstracts and bursary applications will be evaluated by a small sub-committee of the CSATVB Education Committee and each trainee will be notified whether his/her abstract is (or is not) acceptable for a Travel Bursary.

To be eligible for a Travel Bursary:

a.      Indicate that you would like to be considered for this award on the abstract submission page.

b.      Indicate your current training (or professional) level: graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, research fellow

c.      You must be a member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Atherosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology.  To apply for membership visit their web site at www.csatvb.ca

d.   If you are an MSc or PhD student, both you and your supervisor must be members in good standing of the CSATVB

e.      Award applicant must be the presenting author (either an oral or a poster presentation is acceptable)

f.        Certificates will be distributed to recipients at the conclusion of the Keynote Lecture on March 16, 2009.

g.      After the Workshop, recipients will be expected to submit his/her air ticket stub (or boarding card stubs), hotel bill, registration receipt and a request for a meal allowance (equivalent to $45 CAN per day) in the normal manner to Dr. Pierre Julien, CSATVB Treasurer, who will reimburse the recipient directly.  Please note: CSATVB will not reimburse unreasonable costs, e.g. excessive hotel and restaurant bills.  Airfare is limited to coach; maximum hotel reimbursement is three nights at $220CAD (rate at host hotel);

h.   Abstracts must be submitted by January 10, 2009

Outstanding Poster Awards –

To be eligible for this award you must be presenting an abstract in a poster session.  You must be either a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow or research fellow. You must be a trainee member of NAVBO.

These awards are based on the presentation given at the workshop - physical presentation of the abstract, knowledge of work, ability to answer questions, etc.  Judges will be selected from among participating senior researchers.

Two awards will be given in this category - one for post doc/research fellow and one for graduate student.  Please note travel award recipients will not be eligible for this award.
